If I was going to write a real desktop app, I would use Swift, but for wrapping shell scripts or making a UI for your library, Glimmer DSL for LibUI seems like a really great fit.

I got tired of using the #SQL console and built my own #DB GUI in Ruby with Glimmer DSL for LibUI to more conveniently query data in my Rails web application as the app remembers my last DB connection details and auto-connects on startup, supporting PostgreSQL to start.
