#listserv
I work at an orthopedic hospital, and if I was in charge of anything, this would make me want to keep you on the listserv just to see what other shenanigans you'd get up to.

Today I realized, Wow, a certain listserv I'm on is incredibly quiet recently. Then, I remembered that I created a gmail rule to route those emails to a folder because there had been so many emails. Checked and there's 188 emails in less than 2 weeks. Where do these people make the time for this?

whew, that listserv (and Child_Lit) really shaped my life in unexpected ways. The ways I used to engage with email! Dang.

thinking about how the Dar Williams listserv had an IRC night once a week and that evolved into two or three different marriages, longterm partnerships, some with kids. It was always about the other humans.
we fucking loved it, even when there was basically nothing on it, and let me tell you something else: we loved it because of human connection, human diversity, human creativity. WE DON'T NEED A SINGLE THING ANY OF THESE COMEMIERDAS HAVE MADE AND TRIED TO SELL US IN ORDER TO HAVE A GREAT INTERNET.
i especially love all the dopes saying “when the internet first went mainstream everyone hated it too” like it happened in the pioneer days so no one can dispute it, like mf’ers we were THERE

I tried (in the 90s) to set up something like that without knowing about listserv. And I added myself to the list of emails for emails to be sent to.
I still have never tried something like that again.

Back in my day, advances in fine motor banditry would get you a ticket to Stockholm. Nowadays they get you banned from a listserv! smh

General question: To Whom It May Concern:

Our agency just released an RFP for proposals to recalibrate and validate our regional travel demand model. Would it be possible to post the link on this listserv? Please advise.

Thank you.

I still have OLD friends from a listserv I joined in the mid 90s.

What I’m taking away from this is that that listserv was full of cowards devoid of vision.

"hello bone colleagues" is the exact kind of email Gideon would write if she got put in the necro listserv too (Jod would make one)
Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately

Reminds me of the time I got added to a random Florida HOA listserv and I attempted to takeover the presidency

I'm afraid if I was the admin of that listserv, I could not overcome my "no, no, let him cook" impulse

I worked for a dinky little play by mail game company in the 80s/90s, and they let us do a lot of personal stuff on their computers. I ran a listserv for a fan club. Every few weeks I'd have to run in to work at 3 in the morning because someone's email bounced, and copies were multiplying madly.

Latest campus I.T. listserv thread involves wiping old data from things like tablets that don't have hard drives so that they can be disposed of. Guy from the State of Illinois just popped into the convo -- "that's state of Illinois data -- you have to ask us first before erasing." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I would subscribe to the newsletter and object to having him removed from the listserv

What was that listserv that your coworkers weren't ready for?

Bluesky just isn’t nearly weird enough for me to thrive in. @maureenjohnsonbooks.com we need to go where the culture is. We need to start a listserv.
October 6, 2026 at 2:22 PM
hmm, your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your listserv

I am on a listserv of constitutional lawyers but have not bothered to remove myself bc the messages are fairly interesting (if a bit dry).

A zillion years ago, my workplace created a listserv I knew my coworkers weren't ready for. To the introductory email I responded, "Thank you. I would like to be addressed as the Grand Duchess Anastasia." And that listserv disappeared for a couple of years while everyone learned what email was.

If you're Gen-X, here's a reminder to listen to The Crow soundtrack for the first time in years.

I was trading Cure bootlegs all over the world through a listserv at the time of the announcement, & that new raw song from The Cure post Disintegration & Wish was EVERYTHING.

What a time that was!

Really looking forward to the "reply all" debacle breaking out once again on the AALS listserv.

Same. I’m not gonna say every listserv and usenet group was pure good. But it was better
