I believe surveillance capitalism violates privacy because companies make money from collecting our data online, usually without the users knowing how much is being tracked. personalized content may be cool and unto watch but convenience should not mean giving up our privacy. #Media180FA26X53D

I believe the internet has had a neutral effect on democracy. It makes political information and different perspectives easier to access, but it also allows misinformation to spread quickly. Overall, I think its impact depends on how people use and evaluate the information online. #Media180FA26X53D

The gramophone shaped youth culture by creating shared musical tastes and social identities, just like Atari and Nintendo later did through gaming. Both technologies connected young people, created communities, and gave them new ways to express themselves and build identities.

I think the internet has had a positive and negative effect on democracy. People having access to more information regarding politics and being able to be more informed while making decisions can be positive and also negative if information is spread which it commonly is.

Music scenes of the past have declined heavily as a result of transforming music ownership. People no longer consume musical content in the same way or express ideas in ways we saw in punk and grunge. This shift impacts how fan-bases create community and listen to music. #Media180FA26X53D

I believe the internet has a neutral effect on democracy. Although information about the US is more easily spread, allowing voters to be more educated, it also widely spreads misinformation to gullible viewers, so the effect depends on whether they fact-check the information. #Media180FA26X53D

I believe that the internet has helped democracy. People can share ideas, organize, and speak up without waiting for traditional media tout give them a platform. But misinformation spreads fast, and not everyone has equal access. It helps when people can find reliable information.

I think local music scenes can still grow through streaming. Chapter 4 explains the shift from owning music to accessing it. Local artists can reach listeners far away, but live shows still matter because they bring fans together and keep a scene connected to its community. #Media180FA26X53D

I believe there is still a high demand for stuff like vinyls. Yes there has been a big shift to moving over to everything being digital but that also made it so people could grow bigger on these platforms and we will still have that availability for vinyls, CDS, ect. #Media180FA26X53D

surveillance capitalısm can be positive or negative effect on society, it's an effect needed to not only protect consumers from themselves but protect other people as well. Profit shouldn't ever come at the expense of individuals privacy and informed consent #Media180FA26X53D

I think the internet has had both positive and negative effects on democracy. It gives people greater access to information and discussion, but filters and confirmation bias can reinforce existing beliefs. Its impact depends on how critically we consume media. #MEDIA180FA26X53D

I would argue that the internet helps democracy because it lets ordinary people see what is happening in other countries. Seeing conflicts, protests, disasters, and human rights issues can raise awareness and encourage people to speak up or push for change in the public sphere. #Media180FA26X53D

I think local music scenes can still thrive, but streaming has altered how we listen & discover music. Social media/streaming helps artists with smaller platforms reach more audiences without barriers like distance/language getting in the way, while venues form communities. #Media180FA26X53D

#2 Local music scenes can still exist, but streaming has changed what exactly local means. Artists can now reach people way outside their city, which gives them more exposure but can also make music feel less connected to one specific place or community. #Media180FA26X53D

The internet has a neutral effect on the democracy of our nation. People can access information, news, government records, and political movements while fake news, deep fakes and other misinformation can spread quickly. The impact depends on how people use and asses the information. #Media180FA26X53D

I think payola still exists, but it has changed with technology. Our lecture says it resurfaced through streaming, while the textbook shows how promoters can pay to influence playlists. On social media, promotion can be harder to recognize because paid exposure can appear organic.

Music scenes like NYC punk, Seattle grunge, LA rap, and Motown music are still very prevalent in modern music. The shift from buying music to streaming made these genres become even more expressive. And the larger access to music has aloud for greater development and influence.
