My Melnorme fancharacter, Inventor Lavender dressed in a custom-fitted kimono. Now, how would a Melnorme get a kimono, isn't that something from Earth. Yes, but she has a sister-in-law(named Julep) who is a tailor, so she's probably the one who made this special. As to WHY Lavender would wear this? Well, let's just say she will do her very best to impress someone she's interested in! I'm NOT the best at making clothing patterns, but Lord knows I tried!

A redraw of my very first drawing of this big boy from 2023. Because of a roleplay I was a part of last night, it compelled me to want to draw Rusty again after some time. Because I love this fancharacter and actually missed him. Rusty-Red is both an anomaly amongst the Melnorme species, and a bit of a celebrity. The former because he became notable for having a rare genetic that tripled his bodily mass(alongside "long-pod", making his frontal pods resemble arms). The latter because of an interview by the Interstellar University of Sciences, giving him notoriety and the nickname "The Giant of Beta Wolf". And why Beta Wolf? Because he resided there as a refugee(scarcely escaping his birthplanet during a planetary collapse) and the other refugees profoundly respected him as a unique individual. He HAS taken training in Trade Mastery, but for an undisclosed reason, the Trade Master he was training with had a fit, saying Rusty would be "completely unfit to be a Trade Master". Although no reason was provided, he's pretty sure he knows the reason why he was told this. But that's okay, because he is currently seeking work in mining. With how strong he is, it suits him well. He is usually cheerful, sweet, bashful, emotional(to a fault), emotionally sensitive and something of a crybaby.

Tried something different with this particular piece: color only background. I imagine that a Melnorme ghost would take on the color they’re named after. In the case of Lavender’s dearly departed mother, Rose-Red, a rosy shade of red. Apart from adoring her daughter’s handiwork and being proud of her, what is Rose-Red’s ghost doing here? Surely, she has something important to say, right?

Well, not "aided" so much as conducting business. You capture life forms on planets and trade data on them for Credits, which can then be traded for useful clues.

Inventoe) Lavender(or "inventress" as she calls it) is another Melnorme, though one of the first to be enlisted in the Starship Junk Heap. She is awfully pretty for a Melnorme, but that also matches up to her superior intellect, her handiness in inventing and engineering, and her sassy sarcasm. She is also temperamental and easily annoyed, but if you play music, offer her a book or gift her something she finds pretty, she'll cool off. Another favorite fancharacter of mine, because not only do I enjoy drawing her, but also because her story is one I like writing about as well.

In the event that she has to go out and explore a cold planet, Lavender has a specially-made insulated suit for just that purpose. She may not look like it, but she actually does like the suit. Headcanon: Melnorme are not tolerant to supercold temperatures and usually prefer warmer climates. However, because their explorations in finding ancient artifacts potentially went to cold worlds too, either protective suits or insulated suits like this are required.

She’s as soft, sleek and comforting as cotton… because her name is Cotton! This albino(?) Melnorme is a one in a billion individual who has the ultra rare genetic in which she has no melanin. Another dream about her would show that she is as soft and gentle as her namesake. She is also a very talented musician, specializing in an instrument called the “synthstrings”. In the same dream, Kammo darts off for a moment to find something for Cotton and brings it to her, and that thing is a cotton blossom, which Cotton holds very dearly.

A handmade plush of my Melnorme fancharacter, Lavender. She's made with various materials that I reclaimed, mostly articles of clothing that either do not fit or are unwanted. So it's hard to say EXACTLY what materials she's made of, lol. Additional notes: No sewing machine was used in the creation of this plush, it's ALL sewn by hand! I also did NOT use or even MAKE patterns for this plush either, because when my mind's set to making a plush like this, I usually have a good idea of how it'll turn out when it's finished. Second photo, this time a close up(include my hand for scale). You can see the additional embroidery I did for the eye, mouth and freckles. As always, embroidering the freckles was a HUGE pain in the neck! But I AM happy with how the embroidery of the teeth and around the eye turned out.

For the 30th anniversary of #StarControl I designed some Funko Pops and drew a big ol' anniversary party. So excited for @pistolshrimpgames.com to finish their new game!

The cake says "Happy 30 Anniversary" in a space language I invented and definitely doesn't have an Umgah inside it. Clockwise from upper left we have a Syreen, a Supox, a Human, an Utwig, a Melnorme, an Ariloulaleelay, a Pkunk, the Zoq Fot Pik, a Spathi, a Shofixti, a Chmmr, and a Yehat blocking the precious Shofixti from getting the cake dropped on him but the Utwig. They are watching the frungy game and all is excitement.
