im still on the fence about taking him seriously. i set up a litmus test, to use his treatment of mathematics and logic, using metalogic and metamathematics as my yardstick. if what he's saying at the periphery of formalism tracks as either a formal or transcendental argument, I can buy it

I think the maths you need for consciousness specifically is already there, but nobody wants to touch it because metalogic is hard and slams into issues like Godel's theorem quite readily.
