パブリッシャーのHeadupは4月14日、Mireboundの手がけるSFパズルアドベンチャーゲーム『Causal Loop』を発表した。対応プラットフォームはPC（Steam/Epic Gamesストア/GOG.com）。発売時点でゲーム内は日本語表示にも対応予定。 『Causal Loop』は、ストーリー重視の一人称視点SFパズルゲームだ。主人公のベイルは失われた文明の技術により、過去と未来が混ざり合う世界に囚われてしまう。プレイヤーはベイルとなり、異星生物の技術を利用して古代文明の謎を解きながら、因果律のループからの脱出を図る。 本作の舞台となるのは、太古の文明が眠る惑星「トーア・ウルサット」。異星文明を研究する考古学者のベイルは同僚のジェンとともにこの地を訪れるが、誤って古代の装置「クロノリス」を起動したことにより事態は一変。ジェンは姿を消し、ベイルは過去と未来が混在する“タイムループ”の只中へと投げ込まれてしまう。管制本部との通信手段も絶たれたベイルは、時間の歪みが永遠に閉ざされてしまう前に、この世界からの脱出を目指すことになる。 本作は全15章で展開され、Unreal Engine 5で制作された洞窟や雪原などのロケーションを探索する。また本作のトレイラーからはヒトデ状の物体にぶつかる場面や巨大な肋骨が転がる砂漠、宇宙船に襲撃されるシーンなども確認でき、他の登場人物や生物の存在も示唆されている。なお、ベイルとジェンはそれぞれが主人公として扱われ、異なる視点と能力を持つキャラクターとして描かれるという。全てのキャラクターに英語およびドイツ語のフルボイスが実装されているそうで、ストーリーや世界観の構築にはかなり力が入っているようだ。 本作のゲームプレイは一人称視点で進行し、古代文明のパズルを解くことが基本となる。特徴的なのは、「エコー・ブランチング」と呼ばれるシステムだ。この機能を利用することで、プレイヤーは自身の過去の行動を“エコー”として記録・再生でき、最大3体までの過去の自分と連携しながら問題解決に挑むことが可能になる。たとえば、一定時間だけ橋がかかるボタンを押す必要がある場合、自身のエコーにボタン操作を任せることで、本体がそのタイミングに合わせて橋を渡るといった協力が実現する。本体を含めると最大4体による同時進行の謎解きが可能で、計画的かつ論理的な思考が求められる設計となっている。 開発を担当するMirebound Interactiveは、ドイツ・フラウエンベルクに拠点を置くデベロッパーだ。Blizzard Entertainmentで『オーバーウォッチ』や『ディアブロ』シリーズに携わったベテラン開発者を含むメンバーによって構成されており、『Causal Loop』は彼らのデビュー作となる。魅力的な世界・革新的なテクノロジー・創造的なアイデアをゲーム開発の柱に掲げており、初作品ながら完成度の高いゲームプレイが期待される。 さらに本作には、モーション酔い防止、色覚サポートモード、操作割り当てなど、アクセシビリティオプションも盛り込まれる予定。スタジオ初開発作品ながら、開発陣の豊富な経験が設計思想や配慮に反映されるのだろう。 ちなみに過去の自分と協力するゲームというと、2Dトップダウン型パズルゲーム『GOST of Time』（関連記事）や対戦FPS『Quantum League』などこれまでさまざまなゲームが登場している（関連記事）。『Causal Loop』は高精細な3Dグラフィックと重厚なSF世界観も持ち味となりそうで、今後の続報に注目したい。 『Causal Loop』はPC（Steam/Epic Gamesストア/GOG.com）向けに開発中。発売時点でゲーム内日本語表示にも対応予定。 Source link

Da hat man sich gerade erst von Super Meat Boy 3D erholt - und mit "erholt" meine ich: das Spiel direkt zwei Mal beendet und im zweiten Run die 100% erspielt - da feuert Headup Games schon direkt aus dem nächsten Rohr. Neben dem aktuellen Abenteuer von Team Meats Maskottchen durfte ich auf der gamescom letztes Jahr, gemeinsam mit ein paar anderen Titeln und Prototypen, einen Blick auf ein sehr interessantes Puzzle-Spiel werfen. Das vom Rheinländischen Studio Mirebound Interactive entwickelte Causal Loop hat bei mir als Rätselfreund schon auf den ersten Blick Interesse geweckt und mich mit interessanten Mechanik-Ideen neugierig gemacht.
