By far the greatest tonnage is for N-compounds, with a marked up tick in 2023-'24.
Intensive ruminant production sucks nitrogen & our rivers/lakes show it, but let's hold onto the #NitratesDerogation & sacred cows.

Ireland has failed to provide any evidence that the next nitrates derogation will provide solutions to our ever-worsening water quality. We aren't holding up our end of the bargain, and we haven't for decades.

The Irish government are doing exactly the opposite of what the science is telling us to do.

Probably not a lot of Ear to the Ground watchers here but if you're actually interested in water quality & #nitratesderogation, I'd recommend a listen to the two enviro PhDs running a dairy farm. The efforts they've made etc. Strange for me to see such a similar story to mine (minus the PhD)

Now how was this fixed so that we got the recent extension of the #nitratesderogation?
