There is one criticism that I noticed is quite often levied against OSR games. It occurs often enough that it is approaching the level of conventional wisdom within some segments of the tabletop world. It amounts to this: keeping track of torches is boring. Calculating rations is boring. Dealing with encumbrance gets in the way of playing the game, which is adventuring, the story, the uncertainty of what lies beyond the next door.
