Come work on my new research project! We are studying whether and how #parentalLeave is shared in different types of families, how the use of parental leave has changed in different families since the 2000s, and how parents’ social environments influence their leave uptake.

Unread emails after #parentalleave from >1000 down to less than 100. That's gotta count as something 👍

#Idaho Attorney General’s Office to cut #ParentalLeave to 2 wks. I reckon this is part of the plan to get woman back into the barefoot/prego status. Forcing them to quit the workforce rather than work 2 weeks after giving birth. idahocapitalsun.com/briefs/idaho... #RaiseFuckingTaxes!

#Spain recently equalised #ParentalLeave, so that paternity and maternity leave are now both 16 weeks.

But did fathers take advantage of the new policy? The answer is a resounding yes.

#Policy design matters for #GenderEquality.

Well designed paternity leave makes Spain a model of success - LSE Business Review
When paternity leave is mandatory, non-transferable and fully paid, more fathers take it. This shows how policy design matters for gender equality.

Okay, I am going to totally blow your mind! Canadian men get parental leave after the birth of a baby as well

Up to 40 weeks to be shared between parents, at 55% of their average weekly earnings & can extend up to 69 weeks at 33% of average weekly earnings

#healthcare #parentalleave #Canada 👨‍🍼👶 🇨🇦
The experience of having a baby in Canada — with healthcare, maternity leave, and subsidized daycare at $9 a day (Quebec) — really made the lack of social supports in the US feel downright cruel.

Everyone knows about healthcare but there’s so much more. It’s genuinely sad.
A couple weeks ago a friend was telling me about someone she knew who had been on maternity leave, and said she had taken "the full year." I said, "A whole year? Wow, what kind of fancy job does she have that gives her a YEAR of leave?" and my friend looked surprised & said, "... welcome to Canada?"

Solidarity with #CUPW. #CANADAPOST must bargain in good faith, work with labour to get their contract negotiated. Instead of using govt mechanism to avoid labour laws and addressing workers rights.

Every worker who has had #parentalleave/maternity leave can THANK CUPW! #OHS in the workplace…same

One of the happiest periods of my life was taking paternal leave when my son was born and I had our three year-old daughter.

If you have the opportunity to do this, do it. If you have the ability to advocate for your workplace to have this, do it.
