Got the most insane slop ad that claimed all Jews take a "biblical remedy" of honey oil, which is why Type II Diabetes is rare in Israel. But most importantly is he wearing a clerical collar?

Something in-between a piranesian space and a Michelin guide restaurant.
(Or, actually, both things).

It is the structure that frames and gives order to the space.

Also enjoyed the early C21 gutting of the centre of the train shed to create a 4-storey Piranesian stacked arrangement of platforms.

You can see the precursors of this trend in some 1970s sci fi and horror - particularly Fonda's Idaho Transfer, Coma, even a particular Night Stalker episode. It's just been given a more overt Kafka-Piranesian makeover.
A # of top/down trend pieces on BACKROOMS/OBSESSION's recent box office successes boil down to GEN Z PROCESSES THE WORLD THIS WAY WHILE MILLENNIALS DO IT THIS WAY. No and also how do you know? The creepypasta/liminal horror aesthetics isn't purely generation-divided either. Bad approach. Read this.
In time for Kane Parsons/A24's BACKROOMS, I wrote about liminal horror for @avclub.com. Why are liminal spaces so creepy and popular? Featuring "Dream Pools" creator Jared Pike, analog/dreamcore filmmaker Tata Dovnar, and THE OUTWATERS director Robbie Banfitch:

There are some real gems in the old files. I once found an old inspector had rather gloriously described an old fort as "Piranesian and Gormeghastlian (Gormaghastly?)" which, once I'd looked up Piranesi's imaginary prisons, gave me a surprisingly good impression of a site I hadn't been to before.

The shout-out choice was inspired by the Oxford English Dictionary's Word of the Day: Piranesian.
