This #chione shell has multiple mysterious traces:
Borings that have penetrated in, probably a taphonomic artifact
Burrow with a reinforced roof that protrudes over the shell
Paired #polydorid entry borings.
The latter suggest that this is indeed a polydorid trace

Polydorid worms are a big issue in oyster fisheries. They burrow into bivalves to make home for themselves. The interaction however, can result in mudblisters (blisters filled with mud and faeces) on the inside. So definitely not a yummy oyster.

#Placuna placenta? has a thin & translucent shell which is surprisingly hard They are used for various crafts & as alternatives for glass panes AKA #windowpane oysters This specimen has several external #borings made by #polydorid worms forming #mudblisters

They sure did 😊😊 Only the barnacle is weathered and the polydorid probably found the barnacle much easier to bore into. The rest of the shell is in great condition 😊
