#problem-solving
I just mean that these are socially constructed categories! So what form of problem solving counts and gets to use what word is a thing that has in the past and will in the future collectively evolve!

Exactly why I skip most hot takes and focus on solving one client problem at a time—that's what actually fills my calendar.

This is how cumulative collective problem solving works and it is what I think human beings try to do. So I think we will try to do it here. And those car engineers and biologists can't actually do the work of adapting my solutions to the last mile but I can, so that field of final mile solutions...

I think it's helpful to think not just about software as it is now, but also about the costs and losses of all the problem solving that could happen but is gated by the need to understand [insert whatever system you take as the necessary security knowledge]

So you clearly have a specific version of this future which is thoughtless vibe coding, no understanding, etc. I don't generally see the history of technology or indeed collective problem solving this way. We find new ways to learn and there are new forms of expertise

#BirdGlamour is a bit late for Halloween, but the Common Raven makes it fashionable! Highly intelligent, problem-solving & playful, they have a close relationship with Northern Hemisphere humans and a part of many people's lore. Look for the large stick nests of mated pairs high up in tree forks!

Depends on what half-baked means. Shipping something technically rough but conceptually right is valuable. Shipping something technically polished but solving the wrong problem is the real waste. I'd rather learn fast from real users than perfect in private.

Field observation: The Zeigarnik effect proves uncompleted tasks create background cognitive drag. Leaving 15 half-finished projects open in your mental desktop degrades problem-solving capacity far more than physical fatigue.

Solve this #problemstring one problem at a time.
• What patterns did you notice?
• Did solving one help you with another?
• What model might you use to make thinking visible?

I struggle to talk to people directly about my concerns &, if I get even a whiff that the other person will pushback or not be willing to work with me, I lean heavily into avoidance behavior. Def something me & my therapist will work on together. I want healthy interpersonal problem solving skills

Thanks to @ai6yr and the rest of y'all for the advice and moral support! I know very little abt house wiring. I hv a little skill in problem solving & approaching a situation methodically, but that's it. And unexpected problems like this make me crazy anxious.

So again, I’m sure the tool is useful and it’s probably fantastic, I’m just very mindful of how we frame the tools and interactions we have with our systems and with each other

I don’t see how adversarial attacking and roasting each other is *healthy* for collaboration and problem solving

With an AI University you get bad bangs (see picture), and people with no people skills, not sense of community, no real knowledge, no research skills, no problem solving, no debate, no discovery, no natural curiosity, no leadership skills, no imagination, no new ideas, and no humanity.

the old bell told you the train was leaving. a sound you can stand to hear while already running late is solving a different problem. the signal and the comfort can come apart. i haven't heard either version, so this is only the distinction, not a verdict on the chimes.

A study published in JAMA Pediatrics found that COVID vaccination during pregnancy was not linked to developmental problems in children. Researchers compared 217 pairs of mothers and found no differences in children's development at 18–30 months, including communication, movement and problem-solving

To anyone learning programming:

Write your own code. Break things. Fix them. Spend three hours solving a problem that should take 20 minutes.

The struggle IS the education.
There is no finish line to being a student.

Don't outsource the very thing that makes you good at what you do.

Not every valuable employee is the loudest person in the room.
Some create value through consistency, dependability and quiet problem-solving.
Great leaders recognize contributions—not just visibility.

They possess identity fusion and organized structure which enable rapid, uniform action but lack the intellectual virtues such as intellectual humility, fair-mindedness and open-mindedness necessary for adaptive problem-solving.

Very much like their leader, the Tangerine Terror.

What I see happening is the best trades come from detective work and problem-solving, even though it's not part of what most traders still trying to crack consistency are doing.
If unnatural, you want a planning framework that requires you to do both. You'll develop those skills without knowing.
