As a die hard Trek fan, it was really fun to play around with the DS9 space station and see it come alive! Hope this reaches my fellow Trekkies ❤️

Hi fam,
have a fulfilling weekend!
I want to show you fascinating #mathematics, #maths, #math: total #equality!
See #ALText for more, pls.
#DesarguesTheorem #projectiveGeometry
We are #strongerTogether: ALText makes text audible for the visually impaired:)

My screenshot shows ten lines arranged so that at ten points three intersect each other, or, which is the same thing, ten points have been arranged so that three of them lie on one line and there are ten lines. My screenshot shows the same drawing, but here three centers have been drawn, each with two corresponding triangles. Each point can be a center, a vertex of a triangle, or the intersection of any two extended sides of a triangle! That's truly total equality. Desargues' theorem: If the three points of intersection of correspondingly extended sides of two corresponding triangles lie on a straight line, then the three connecting lines of the corresponding vertices of both triangles pass through a center.

Ten lines are arranged such that each has three intersection points with two other lines. Equally valid is the saying that ten points are arranged so that three points lie on each of the ten lines. The image is called "Equality" because each of the points can be a center (see source),- three center points are shown here as a green, red, and blue flower,- a vertex of a triangle, or a point on the line formed by the intersection of any two triangle side extensions. Each of the lines can also take on any role! This is truly total equality.

My screenshot reads: " The Theorem of Gérard Desargues (1591–1661) or Higher Mathematics in Images Dyscalculia doesn't have to be a barrier to understanding mathematical concepts. Sometimes, just looking is enough. [The following description is made for all people, including visually impaired ones.] The left image shows a line drawn beneath the handwritten word “Equality.” Hanging from this line are three projectors, each marked with a thick blue dot, emitting a single cone of light. Only the two boundary rays of each beam are drawn as lines. At the bottom of the image is a narrow, horizontal "V" shape pointing to the left. A line passes through the tip of this V, dividing it into two narrower Vs that are roughly equal in size. The tip itself is marked with a thick blue dot. The left projector shines downward to the left, illuminating a small portion of the upper arm of the V and a part of the dividing line, yielding four intersection points highlighted as thick blue dots. The middle projector illuminates the same portion of the upper arm as the left projector, and additionally a part of the lower arm of the V. Two more intersection points appear, also marked with thick blue dots. The right projector lights up the same part of the dividing line as the left projector and the same part of the lower arm as the middle one. No further intersection points are created. There are ten points, with three of them lying on each of ten distinct lines." My screenshot reads: "The image is titled 'Equality' for good reason: each of the ten points can be understood as a center from which three lines extend, conecting the corresponding vertices of two triangles. In the right image, the tip of the V has been designated as one such center and transformed into a flower with blue stamens and small red petals. The two associated triangles are filled with red dots. The beamer to the left became another center, transformed into a blue flower. Its corresponding triangles are filled with blue dots. At the intersection of two lines—one originating from the red flower, the other from the blue—a green flower appears as a third center. It is located between two triangles that are filled with green dots."

There are many projective geometries, which may be divided into discrete and continuous: a discrete geometry comprises a set of points, which may or may not be finite in number, while a continuous geometry has infinitely many points with no gaps in between. The only projective geometry of dimension 0 is a single point. A projective geometry of dimension 1 consists of a single line

It is time for projective geometry again. It is a great pleasure to introduce this to my students!

The keyword to look for about this is #Homography. It is a notion from #ProjectiveGeometry that is used a lot in #ComputerVision, see for instance the OpenCV doc about it: docs.opencv.org/master/d9/da...
