yep, same. Both federal and WA Labor are absolute failures on nearly every point.

* Israel
* Housing
* AI
* Immigration
* Employment
* Firearms reform in WA
* Corruption and outright criminality of WAPOL

You could go on and on and on.

This FHS will just keep pumping the property bubble.

“Property development is an industry that trades in land and seeks to release the maximum value it can from land.
That is why it isn't primarily a building industry – if the most profitable use of land is to 'land bank' it .. that is what they’ll do.”

Land finance helped build China, but left local government finances hostage to the housing cycle. Now that the bubble has burst, China must recalibrate its fiscal system to fund public services, respond to shocks & support the country’s growth model transition without relying on land.
The fiscal fallout from China’s property bust
Beijing’s debt swaps have eased the pressure on local governments, but only deeper fiscal reform can stop China’s property bust from destabilising the wider economy

The property bubble has "burst", a key indicator, besides rising unemployment & hyperinflation, that Australia is heading towards a recession which quite likely will be a lot worse than #PaulKeating 's "recession we had to have" in the early 90s.

Auction clearance rate sinks to three-month low as property market slows
Australia's auction clearance rate has slumped to a three-month low, while new data shows the number of unsold homes has surged by more than 20 per cent in the past year.

The wild rally in artificial intelligence and the energy shock
Several central banks and the IMF have warned that tech stock prices have reached levels reminiscent of 2008 excesses Unprecedented frenzy of leveraged investing and valuations in the AI space, the oil rally, and property "fire" prices have begun to evoke associations of today's situation with that prevailing before the financial bubble burst in 2007-2008. The very large debt-taking by both listed AI companies (Nvidia, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, etc.) and startups (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) raising capital from private markets (private credit) combined with huge leverage have created staggering valuations.

funny how so much of the bluntness isn't directed at the mismanagement of infrastructure or the property bubble or the overtourism, but at anyone who sticks out, or god forbid, stands up for themselves

It was "no coincidence" that numerous local government jurisdictions across Australia, inc. various in #Queensland (like #LockyerValley) "hurriedly" had land valuations "ungraded" some months ago when mayors and councillors knew the BUBBLE WOULD BURST.

We have been in a property bubble ever since the two fools in 1999 decided to give the greedy a cash boost for the next 27 years.

It's long overdue a correction. There are properties that are worth very little that now have inflated values because of that greed!

4/10 Japan offers the key precedent. Its property bubble burst in 1990, yet the yen appreciated for six years. The banking crisis was deep, but Japan retained current-account surpluses, reserves and a large net foreign-asset position.

the reason it's interesting is because the Chinese government is managing an unholy enormous property bubble unwind. doing that follows a pretty consistent, proscribed path. the further down the path you get, the closer to the end. and that obviously has implications for the rest of the global econ

I'm well aware of the Chinese property and banking system. I've been visiting annually for 20 yrs and first moved there in 1998.

I'm also aware there is an unhealthy American obsession with their housing bubble deflating and the regularly predicted yet never forthcoming collapse of their economy.

I don't know if the property bubble directly created the conditions for like 15 very similar male acoustic guitar singers to become the most popular form of music in Ireland but it feels intuitively true to me. Blasted away by the recession like nu metal and 9/11

Yep. I wrote about the housing bubble nearly 20 years ago. I still think relentlessly rising house prices are not a good thing for most people. The ones in the FT article are the unfortunate few. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The 🇺🇸 economy is pretty much intellectual property theft, securities fraud and shonky debt fuelled real estate deals for unusable land at the moment. At least the last bubble left us with a load of dark fiber. When the NASDAQ craps itself what will be left of 🇺🇸 ? Will the petrodollar survive?

Weird that if you or I built a rocket, and we launched it, and it accidentally hit federal property, you or I would be in jail immediately.

A company operating a trillion dollar investment bubble, launches a tool that does this to multiple gove and private entities and gets away with an "I'm sorry"

She lost me talking about we need a cut of data centers.

We need to own property and businesses because I see these data centers going *poof* when the bubble bursts.
So when white people (in aggregate, not you personally...we know, so save it) claim they don't have privilege...

De facto and de jure policies enabled the disparities. Cui bono? Who benefits? Per usual...
