Same publications, Different #SDG scores? A new #Scientometrics study finds that WoS assigns 450K papers to Gender Equality (SDG 5), vs. just 165K in Scopus. doi.org/10.1007/s111... If universities invest in SDG rankings, shouldn't we first ask what these metrics actually measure? #Bibliometrics

Exhibitions, performances, recitals, choreography, scores, scripts. Most of it never shows up in a citation index, and some of it isn't meant to be archived at all. Scientometrics wasn't built for that kind of output.

In general, the Unit seems more interested in improving research infrastructure (e.g., grant review, journal review, scientometrics) than in improving research practice (e.g., questionable research practices, inferential statistics, preregistration, etc.).

It's not often that an app launches a feature you've been waiting a decade for. This week, that dream came real. Altmetric has added a timeline for Mendeley. Why does this matter? Timelines are essential to understand "what activities drive engagement and impact".
