Self-editing. Sometimes, it's as easy as locating the "delete" button on your keyboard. (Sometimes.)

I'm not advising writers to delete works in progress impulsively just because they're frustrated—that's not the situation for the context of this post.

Where are my English teachers who are also writers? Have you ever been self editing and found a mistake that was like, "It's clearly your not you're. What is wrong with me?" 🤦 #writingcommunity #editing #selfediting #englishteachers

Is your writing feeling weak & indirect? Check for passive voice.

Passive: The decision was made by her. (6 words)
Active: She decided. (2 words)
Active voice is more powerful and concise.

I love #selfediting, not that I won’t let someone else look too.

1. It’s a good way to familiarize with your own #writing

2. A rough draft is just that. Rough. Evaluating and #editing before handing it off leads to more constructive feedback than “rewrite”
