Besides the 0.54 release, arun-mani-j’s Syncthing integration made good progress, top panel plugin support is maturing with the first plugin showing up, there was a bunch of compositor-side improvements, ryonakano worked across the stack fixing multiple i18n issues, tweaks support in mobile settings saw a bunch of fixes by newbyte, we could help a bit to make SHIFT6mq support more robust and there’s more. Více než 250 potenciálních bezpečnostních problémů je v projektu Fwupd nové verze 2.0.21 vyřešeno. Nalezeny byly pomocí AI typu Mythos od Anthropicu, a to v posledních třech měsících. K tomu tvůrci přidávají další opravy a backportovaná vylepšení z řady 2.1. Mimo jiné jde o aktivaci NVM při aktualizaci docků Dell, timeout pro systemd službu fwupd-refresh.service, podpora grafických karet Intel Arc Pro B65 a B70 (plus podpora downgradu firmwarů u Intel Arc) či telefonů SHIFTphone 8 a SHIFT6mq. Výsledkem je nová verze starší řady 2.0 a doporučení na ni přejít pro uživatele této řady.

Po nedávném oznámení sponzoringu od Dellu a Lenova přichází na svět nová verze Fwupd 2.1.3, která kromě jiného přidává podporu aktualizací firmwarů pro modulární smartphony SHIFT6MQ a SHIFTphone 8 od německé společnosti Shiftphone specializující se na snadno opravitelné modulární telefony. Tvůrci dále implementují podporu autentizace s Redfish bearer token, podporu řady čipů XMC SPI, či schopnost parsingu souborů JCat přímo v rámci knihovny Fwupd, bez nutnosti použití libjcat. Doplňme, že nejnovější modulární SHIFTphone 8.1 s krytím IP 66 lze v současnosti předobjednat za necelých 700 eur, přičemž jde o telefon s SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, 12 GB RAM, 512GB UFS úložištěm, dvěma SIM sloty a vlastním ShiftOS, postaveném na Androidu 14.
