Silverview. JLC left the manuscript, Nick edited it. He completed it some time before his death but stipulated it be held back.

SILVERVIEW wasn't Le Carré's greatest, but it was eavesdropping on something real. The naked good-and-bad of the longing to reconnect with purpose and meaning in an institution/world that dishonors them, that isn't worthy of them, that can't be more than all the routine ways we let each other down..

Wikipedia lists Silverview, 2021, as his latest published novel, but notes it was posthumous & completed by son Nick. Before that, Agent Running in the Field, 2019.

I guess it’s “Agent..” you mean?

A revisit to 'Silverview' by John le Carré and a fine read it was too.
The master's final novel before he sadly passed away in 2020, posthumously published in 2021 after some final retouching by his son Nick Cornwell. I needed to reread this to get its finer points.

Not his finest but certainly worth the 200-page investment

A visit to a local #CharityShop yielded another #LeCarré #novel.
'The Russia House' published in 1989, which was adapted for the 1990 #Movie directed by Fred Schepisi & starring Sean Connery & Michelle Pfeiffer.
Before reading though, I'm returning to 'Silverview' for a more focused read.

I guess I'm blazing through short books because it took me two weeks to read 1Q84.

Treasure Island, The Night of Baba Yaga, The Tatami Time Machine Blues (sequel to The Tatami Galaxy).

Currently reading Silverview by John Le Carré.

two weeks for 1q84 is honestly a sprint. that book is a lease. silverview will feel like a short story after

Another #LeCarre #Novel completed
I feel this one deserves another read, as I put it down and left it unread for too long before returning.
'Silverview' a deep and telling story, intriguing and yet I'm left misunderstanding its finer points.

Up next 'A Most Wanted Man'.

Absolutely, with 'Silverview' being completely fresh to me, it deserved to be read with more concentration, leaving it as long as I did unread, it lost its momentum.

It turns out, when I look at my list, there are 5: A Most Wanted Man, Our Kind of Traitor, A Delicate Truth, A Legacy of Spies, and Silverview. I kinda stopped keeping up with his new stuff to re-read Smiley for awhile, and still haven't caught up.

Of those, I enjoyed A Delicate Truth the most, but if Smiley is still at least vaguely in your memory then A Legacy Of Spies is probably worth a go next. A Most Wanted Man is good, Our Kind Of Traitor is decent. Silverview just felt a bit feeble and rushed, although others liked it.

curiosity got the better of me on this so i got "silverview" out of the library and i can say this about myself and late career le carre: we both have written first drafts of novels that careen wildly between past and present tense narration. we differ in that his son unkindly chose to publish his
drifted over to thrillers and saw a le carre i didn't recognize. turns out his kid is doing him like herbert

Coffee? I always take a book. Last time they'd booked me into wrong clinic, but I had le Carre's Silverview with me so wasn't so bad.

You wont regret it. Last completed novel, Silverview, wraps things up rather nicely.

Just finished Silverview, John Le Carre’s final novel. His work has influenced nearly every spy novel in the last 60 years. Highly recommend if you love complex characters in slow burn mysteries.
Cheers to a new year!
