Fansubs also didn’t have access to the Japanese scripts or official spellings so sometimes they just had to make things up which would result in wildly inconsistent name spellings that’s still being debated by fans today. Gundam SEED is probably one of the worst examples of this.

I tried on the voice transcriptizer for claude yesterday and I learned fun new spellings
They went with "myriology" instead of mereology which I thought was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure that's not even a word
But by far my favorite was rendering "otiose" as OTOs

A lot of Europeans are also going to be reading in their local languages, and the French translator might not go with the same name spellings as the American English one, etc.

YES lol I get the diff spellings mixed up. Anyway yeah marfan’s and EDS aren’t necessarily related tho i was tested for the former bc of how much my family LOOKED like we had it, and vEDS advocacy is mostly done thru the marfan foundation bc afaict of how neglectful EDS society was to non hEDS types
