#StingJet is not a synonym for severe winds in extratropical storms. The wind system is far more complex. Even with #StormEowyn, it is completely unclear whether the extreme gusts can be attributed to a sting jet or another system or a combination of several (cold jet, etc.).
With Storm Éowyn bring strong winds, you might hear about a 'sting jet'. But just what is it?

Tonight's development of a mesolow looks to take a broadly similar path to one seen on 31st October 2021 (h/t
@danholley.bsky.social to the similarity on that one). The corridor of strong winds from these only tends to be ~20-30 km wide but does pack a punch, perhaps caused by a small stingjet.

Imelda and Humberto are both hurricanes and less than 500 miles apart this morning. No two Atlantic hurricanes have been recorded so close together in the satellite era (since 1966). Imelda is Bermuda bound with a possible sting jet forming as it passes.

Je pense ce que les rafales sont une justification d'existence d'un StingJet avec #Goretti. Dans les autres stations, il y a aussi des rafales extrêmes.

A strong low is currently impacting the British Isles. #StormBram is a Shapiro-Keyser-Cyclone with a front fracture immanent on Satellite imagery. A #StingJet might develop later as well. Note the subtropical airmass which is ingested into the system.

A Stingjet has developed by #StormAmy. Note the cloud head and the descending cloud bands into the dry air coming down from the tropopause. The scotish westcoast is in for a hefty ride right now, expect intense winds there now.

Wow, wenn die Messungen stimmen, dann haben wir dort einen #StingJet live in Action mit Sturm #ELLI (#GORETTI). Das ist extrem selten, dass solche Werte gemessen werden, ähnlich Böen wurden bei Orkan Christian gemessen, auch eine SKZ.
