Peripheral CXCR3 blockade mitigates T cell infiltration and neurodegeneration in a mouse model of tauopathy
Emmerson et al. demonstrate that the CXCR3-CXCL10 chemokine signaling pathway is important for brain-infiltrating T cells in tau-mediated neurodegeneration. Blocking CXCR3 reduces T cell entry and pro...

🐭 Tauopathy may involve more than tau. In mice, blocking CXCR3 reduced brain-infiltrating T cells, neurodegeneration and some memory deficits—without lowering bulk tau. Intriguing immune-targeting result, but still preclinical. www.cell.com/neuron/fullt... #Neuroscience #neuroskyence #photography

Washington University in St. Louis researchers found that blocking CXCR3 in tauopathy mice cut brain T-cell infiltration ~50% and reduced brain atrophy ~40%, without lowering tau.

Immune cell trafficking itself helped drive neurodegeneration.
