#unitasker
are you a unitasker or a monotasker? a polytasker or a multitasker?

Any time you see a bizarrely specific unitasker product, 90% of the time it's to recoup manufacturing costs so they can provide them to disabled people. 👍

Ultimately I tend to shy away from unitasker tools and devices in my life. I like the concept of an e-ink tablet, but an iPad Pro is just going to be so much more useful to me day to day. I guess i know what I’m looking for next iPad refresh!

I literally printed the respooler in May of this year, as one of the Useful Unitasker Tools to support my hobbies. Just even this single use - and I did use it to respool other filaments earlier when I replaced printers - means it pays for itself in terms of making filaments usable.

Your kitchen fire extinguisher: allowable unitasker.
In six words or fewer, write a story about this photo.

Rice cooker. Since it doubles as my steamer, not a unitasker, and set and forget lets me worry about everything else in the meal.

How in the fuck does it make sense to the white person's mind to assault it with all of the most vicious, spitting contempt as the most useless unitasker in the entire kitchen, then take it as a given that rice is one of the easiest things to fuck up. YOU'VE GOT A SOLUTION FOR IT RIGHT THERE

Any dish that requires a unitasker automatically loses points.

Waffle pockets, although they hold butter and syrup well, prevent the ease of full coverage of a pancake.

I can't wait to talk about the redacted outtakes from this week. I have acquired and just used for the first time a new all-time-stupidest kitchen unitasker and it's AMAZINGLY FUN. I'm reaching new levels of personal brand with this thing, I tell you what

Changed car keyfob battery, dropped 2 screws, used 1980s bulk tape eraser to find 'em, because electromagnet. Not a unitasker. 🤣

I should use my sous vide for more than eggs. But I’m okay with it being a unitasker.

can I make a turkey sandwich? Can it skip? Doesn’t know all the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody?

No.

All I see is a news article promoting a Unitasker. @altonbrown.bsky.social would be upset.
A humanoid robot beat Usain Bolt’s 100-meter dash record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday. It ran into a wall to stop and was carried away on a stretcher.
A Chinese Robot Beat Usain Bolt’s 100-Meter Record. Should We Be Impressed?
China’s humanoid robots are achieving superhuman feats of athleticism. But how that translates into the real world is still an open question, experts said.

Okay I think I have a concept for my showstopper, it’s gonna have [REDACTED] with [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and [REDACTED] [REDACTED] decorated like [REDACTED]. I ended up buying a [REDACTED] which is a hell of a unitasker; I hope everyone I know is stoked for [REDACTED] lookin [REDACTED] forever

the retro gaming equivalent of a kitchen "unitasker": a tool that only does one thing, that ends up not doing it particularly well, and gets left in the back of a drawer forever (or languishes in a box at a random thrift store where nobody can identify what task it was even intended to do)

This is a somewhat primitive unitasker, but it's at least a step toward what I was hoping AI and automation would be used for.
August 21, 2026 at 3:48 AM
I'm not going to spend that kind of cash on a unitasker (even if I was employed), but I've never successfully fried eggs, so it's a bit tempting.
August 20, 2026 at 9:53 PM
Isn't that something? My tortilla press isn't a unitasker anymore.
August 19, 2026 at 3:57 PM
Like Alton Brown says, the only unitasker in your kitchen should be the fire extinguisher. And that goes for cocks, too.
August 18, 2026 at 11:44 PM
If Alton Brown would hatefully call it a "unitasker," it's either a plastic trinket on a merchandise clipstrip in the middle of a random aisle of the supermarket or a luxurious status symbol

(fun fact, there are no fajitas in the Junction, and the steaks in the junction are beef ones while the unitasker Cheese Steak section is chicken ones)
July 24, 2026 at 9:57 PM
I just imagined a pizza-sized apple slicer, except it's made to specifically accommodate 5 slices.

Alton Brown would be devastated to hear about this unitasker. 😂

And, for those in the AB camp of unitasker aversion, salad tongs are great for tossing all kinds of salad, including fruit and pasta, which are typically more delicate that leafy greens.

Caveat: DO NOT USE THESE ON A GRILL! They are often made of materials not meant to withstand that heat.

Wait until the first vindictive partner or cop finds a way to dick with the system so the car can track, surveil & gaslight at the same time. Nobody likes a unitasker!

best star trek captain.
WRONG ANSWERS ONLY.

Are transporters a unitasker?
