Marshall County, IN, is actually courting a peaker plant after banning solar and BESS.

There's also a developer exploring a gas plant upwind of the Kindergarten in my town.

It’s bucket o’ boilin’ bugs season again at HEB. Makes me wish they had a door upwind.

(Sniffs the air) someone just got a boner…to the east, upwind.

Hey @tkovach.bsky.social, any air pollution math you can do to help me put this in context for the people who might care about a 16.3MW gas plant going in 0.5 miles upwind from 366 K-1 students?

One of the worst things about being a Vulcan must be pretending to not be bothered when someone loaded up on coffee, beer and chili opens their passages upwind of you.

The fleet is out in force at the 2026 Viper 640 North American Championship.

Close racing from the first gun to the last. Upwind battles, crowded mark roundings and colorful spinnaker runs on Pensacola Bay. This is one-design racing at its best.
October 3, 2026 at 2:57 PM
When the breeze came in, the fleet came alive. 💨

Fog, whitecaps and full planing conditions. Glory Days, 255 and the rest of the fleet sent it downwind, with crews hiking hard upwind.

We’re suing the Trump admin for dismantling federal greenhouse gas pollution limits for power plants. Connecticut sits at the end of the nation's tailpipe. Without strong federal regulation and responsible actions by our upwind neighbors, our air quality, climate, and public health will suffer.

I would pay a lot for a service that sets off stink bombs upwind of smokers' houses every time they open their windows.

I hate it when people smoke upwind of the front door

To jibe (downwind) presents a different side of the boat to the wind (the downwind equivalent to tacking when sailing upwind).

A jib is a type of foresail..

They are constantly upwind of colossal cultural forces and, despite their evergreen critiques of the carceral state, they are everyone's favorite lefty punching bag.

5/7 The potential upwind and downwind is clear: power, acceleration and the ability to build a gap. The French team won one race by 22 seconds, after creating its margin over several legs.

The AI agent you were so proud to deploy last month might be your biggest security risk. Upwind just paid tens of millions to fix that. My take:

92% of Security Pros Concerned About AI Agents | Jim Stevenson
The AI agent you were so proud to deploy last month might be your biggest security risk. Somebody just paid tens of millions to fix that. Upwind, the Israeli cloud security firm valued at around $3.8bn, has bought Aegis, a startup founded nine months ago by two Unit 8200 veterans. Aegis secures AI agents, and it now becomes Upwind AI Labs for Cybersecurity, growing from 12 people to around 35. https://lnkd.in/dFbsrKp9 Nor is it a one-off. OpenAI bought Promptfoo in March to secure its own agents. https://lnkd.in/dCCb4Sgi We hear plenty about AI going rogue, wandering into systems nobody asked it to touch, or ending civilisation by Thursday. My view is simple. We can't put the genie back in the bottle, so the only realistic defence is good AI countering bad AI. The attackers have already switched. Check Point's 2026 AI Security Report found intrusions where AI "ran exploitation workflows autonomously, generating thousands of commands across dozens of sessions with minimal human direction." A human analyst reading logs at 3am doesn't stand a chance. https://lnkd.in/dTqkkVVA But look at where Aegis points. It watches the company's own agents, the ones we've given access to our inboxes, code and customer data, often with more freedom than we'd give a graduate on day one. So good AI has two jobs. Hold off the bad AI outside. Keep an eye on overly enthusiastic AI inside. There is an element of leadership keeping their heads stuck in the sand. Darktrace asked 1,500 security professionals: 92% are worried about AI agents, yet only 37% say they have a formal AI policy. https://lnkd.in/dnUzhjpH (Both reports come from firms that sell AI security, so they have a vested interest, but the direction still holds.) Buying the tool is the easy part. Deciding what your agents may do is a leadership decision. Most senior teams haven't made it yet. Most don't even know they need to. This is where your risk lives, and you need to address it quickly. There has always been a gap between leadership and tech. Its impact is greater than ever. I write about these things on BrkThru Leadership: https://lnkd.in/dHsc3YTe So, a straight question. Who in your organisation decides what your AI agents can do, what access they're allowed, and do they know it's their job? #AI #CyberSecurity #AIAgents #Leadership #BoardGovernance

Zombie hordes must never attack from upwind, because if you were downwind of that much rotting flesh you would smell them from miles away.
What's one movie trope that bugs you? Mine is when someone turns into a zombie and their teeth instantly turn brown
