i wish non-artists would connect their frustration about how "nothing looks cool anymore" with the fact that artists are given less freedom and opportunities in industrial design and user interfaces. we still have creative people and beautiful things, that never went away

I’ve said it before, but chatbot user interfaces that pretend to be human or human-like need to be banned.

Saying it again, anthropomorphized "chatbot" user interfaces to LLMs should be illegal.

I don't want a smart appliance. I miss knobs and buttons on things! I don't want screens each with their own complicated user interfaces and confusing displays. I don't want a fridge connected to my internet, I just want electronics that don't need replacement in five years.

Changing the user interface on phones and other computers every few months doesn't really help anyone. We need laws to keep user interfaces stable for at least 10 years at a time.

What everyone got wrong was thinking viral stuff was ephemeral, when the truth was RIGHT THERE in the metaphor, every 18 to 36 months the same shit goes contagious again like it never happened, imagine the passive income if you'd built a set-it-and-forget-it eternal recirculation site circa 2010
