The last time I did anything resembling peogramming was 25 years ago using VisualBasic.
Theres a steep learning curve between the logic, the language and the software itself, in this case Godot and Castagne (shout out to @panthavma.bsky.social for the engine and all their help).

About two decades ago, writing an app with RealBasic was a way to be mocked by "real software developers", even though you did have to know how to program in something akin to VisualBasic. So I don't mock "vibe coders" if they feel it's the way to get a jolt of pride, before having to maintain code.

Hell yeah. Finished an excel tool with some visualbasic magic that makes a task that used to take an hour take a few minutes at most.

Back when I wrote most of my code in VisualBasic there was a saying "there's more code written in VB then any other language, and it's all workarounds". SaaS has the same issue, I don't think this is just about the cost of SaaS, but the cost of customizations. Even the most flexible SaaS platforms..
It seems the SaaSpocalypse isn't a myth after all. Starbucks is planning to reduce their $400M in software costs by vibe coding replacements for software from Microsoft and IBM used for tracking inventory and managing equipment maintenance.
I'm curious, if they can pull this off and start a trend.

Back when I wrote most of my code in VisualBasic there was a saying "there's more code written in VB then any other language, and it's all workarounds". As some of you know, I do a lot of public speaking and blogging, although the blogging seems to have taken a vacation lately :smile:. One of the side effects of blogging and speaking is that I have a lot of versions of .NET on my machine, along with other software. Today, after installing the latest version of .NET, I took a look at what versions of the SDK and runtime I have on my machine. I was a bit surprised to see that as to how many versions of .NET were on my machine.
