As suggested by @marcusbugs.bsky.social this is probably the egg sac of one of the Phylloneta species; both Phylloneta sisyphia and P. impressa are found in East Anglia.

If you do just want an introduction to British spiders, this is good but if you want to learn the steps to ID spiders, the WildGuides is better

Today's spider ID resources is Britain's Spiders, one of @princetonupress.bsky.social's WILDGuides. This is the current standard field guide, with ID and much other information for nearly all GB macro spiders and a few of the larger Money spiders (Linyphiidae). #spiders #arachnids #arachnology

Fast forward to the present & we find this excellent book, Britain’s Mammals: A field guide to the mammals of Britain and Ireland by Dominic Couzens et al., a volume in the WILDGuides series. It’s a curious fact that this abundant British mammal is absent from the Emerald Isle! 4/n

Hi Bill it is a Cave Bristletail Trigoniophthalmus alternans originally found at Berry Head but now known from a few other sites in Devon Buckfastleigh/Billacombe and south Wales. Key features rounded eyes & antennae about as long as body. Paul Brocks Wildguides Britain's Insects is a good reference
