Mas você programa em que exatamente ? Se caso você programa em C# já há extensões pra vscode pra atender tal programação, a única limitação seria o uso de WindowsForms no Linux já que isso é acessa uma camada de propriedades do Windows, fora isso, é super tranquilo, Java é tranquilo no Linux 👍.
