“I think the purpose of these tools is to deskill, to move towards this workerless future.”

In JJ Lansing’s latest, learn how “bossware” is expanding across industries and why workers need stronger protections against invasive AI monitoring.

There's still the possibility of a future where all entertainment that has a budget of more than four figures is AI generated.

Not because humans artists will stop or that audiences want it, but because the managerial class might just be THAT determined to create a workerless industry by force.

Yes, you have dorks on here insisting "oh no AI only EMPOWERS workers!"

That is a lie. It's told by men who think they can personally benefit from this workerless future, but feel the need to misrepresent lest the molotovs start flying.

But investors are extremely clear on where the money's going.

I firmly believe, given the history of our nation evolving into a Corporate nation, the ultimate goal of AI is to create a workerless society where Corporations are finally rid of their greatest bane, labor costs, humane working conditions & all regulations.

Trump Celebrates Labor Day by Using AI to Hype Himself Up
The White House celebrated a workerless Labor Day on Monday by posting a slew of artificial intelligence slop videos. Donald Trump’s team posted Monday to celebrate the “workers and products that are proudly MADE IN AMERICA,” but the video they included didn’t feature a single American worker. Instead, the apparently AI-generated video depicted a fully automated production line making a marker emblazoned with Trump’s name. In March, Trump sidetracked a Cabinet meeting with a rant claiming to have replaced the White House’s $1,000 ballpoint pens with Sharpies he paid $5 a pop for. The White House also posted an AI-generated video depicting Trump using a Green Lantern ring, which has the power to create anything a person can imagine. Of course, the president used it to prevent illegal border crossings, conjure “American manufacturing,” and summon a fleet of military planes. The video credited Trump with powers of limitless creation, while yet again removing any trace of American workers. The White House then posted an AI-generated video showing the shoes of different kinds of American workers as they walk through fields, offices, and busy streets. But again, the video featured no real American workers, just computer-generated feet. The White House’s official Labor Day video was somehow even worse. The 90-second campaign-style advertisement managed to celebrate Trump rather than actual American workers. “After so many years of politicians who sold out the working men and women of our country, we finally have a president who puts American workers first,” Trump said, congratulating himself in the video’s voiceover. The video never said what Trump actually did, but emphasized his supposedly incredible support for autoworkers, ranchers, and farmers. In reality, autoworkers have rejected Trump’s escalating trade war with Canada, and farmers and ranchers have condemned his decisions to increase imports of foreign beef and undermine FDA-inspected processing sites.

In a workerless economy, "who buys the output?" has an answer: the firms, from each other, forever — at maximal growth.

Who Buys the Output When Nobody Has a Job? The Consumer Is an Accounting Role, Not a Species
If machines are the consumers, a workerless economy doesn't choke — it grows at maximal speed and can decouple from humanity entirely. Employment policy dies; ownership policy is everything.

There’s a reason the old customs houses in cities like Boston and Philly are large. Collecting tariffs requires state capacity: you need workers to assess duties, collect them, record them, and prevent smuggling.

Elon’s workerless automation fantasies are as unserious as everything else about him.

What’s playing out here is corporate hide-and-seek from the public. Having poured hundreds of billions into developing the technology for their dream of a workerless workforce, CEOs and tech investors are now desperate to deflect workers’ fury over the joblessness that awaits them.
An AI Bot Won’t Take *Your* Job. Will It?
Corporate powers are telling us not to worry our little heads about the humanoid robotics they’re increasingly employing in America’s workplaces.

I particularly like the SI that describes similar cases. Most* of the 80+ origins of workerless parasites seem to arise directly from a free-living host, but a healthy minority (especially the ’queen-intolerant’ ones) came instead from other kinds of parasitic ants.

Love love love this beautiful work :). Parthenogenesis notwithstanding, the convergent evolution with workerless parasites in the sister clade (Leptothoracine) is astonishing - multiple of those also have gynomorphic and ergatoid queens but no workers.

Unfortunately, two very interesting social parasite species - workerless inquiline #Temnothorax #minutissimus and slavemaker T. #duloticus - seem to be missing from this study

As corporations pursue the LLM dream of a workerless office the concept of universal basic income is going to have to become reality. Free markets require supply and demand. And yes corporations are going to dump workers in favor of LLMs. It’s coming to your office sooner than later.
The results from the world’s largest Universal Basic Income study are now in. Findings:

“A monthly UBI empowered recipients and did not create idleness. They invested, became more entrepreneurial, and earned more. The common concern of “laziness” never materialized.”
Early findings from the world’s largest UBI study | GiveDirectly
Money always helps, but for the poorest, one large lump sum can last a long time. A long-term universal basic income also looks promising.
