Yet more scurrilous reporting on a celebrity’s personal life. What Olivia Coleman does in her own time is her business.

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.

Murder is actually really frowned in America. It goes against the traditional concept of 'to live,' which means 生きる.

the idea of being murdered wasn’t actually seen as a bad thing until PSYCHO. that’s why they didn’t used to have police or solve murders the way they do now - because it was before anyone had seen PSYCHO so opinion on being murdered was still kinda mixed.
"Clowns are scary" wasn't a mainstream sentiment until Stephen King's It. Similarly, before Texas Chainsaw Massacre, people loved leatherfaces.

If you invite me to your home, I should be able to use your good toilet. Designating a “guest bathroom” establishes a class divide between the property owner and invited guests that brings down the party atmosphere. All turds are created equal, and should be treated as such.

I'm not saying anything new! It's just so baffling to see how everyone I know is constantly rewatching 30 Rock and The Office (or their classic sitcom of choice) but so few platforms are REALLY investing in the next generation of beloved comedies!

I think all the time about how brilliant a premise it is that the comedy within the show on 30 Rock is SO BAD on purpose. And Alan's great reporting here also gets at how important it is to have performers who are open to looking silly instead of insistent on looking cool!

Napoleon: "Come with me, quickly!"

You: "I'm kind of in the middle of something. Who even are you?"

Napoleon: "Listen, kiddo, I'm the Weltgeist that commands history."

You: "Oh...okay, sure."
The Hundred Days should probably take the top spot?

Everyone with half a functioning brain knew it was doomed to fail, but it had enough momentum because Napoleon was the grandmaster of aura farming.

This is a nice idea, but the 'goneth' ruins it. It's so jarring. I wish people would try just slightly harder with this kind of thing. And if there's one place I expect to find sympathy for this pointless peeve, it's here.

This is it, isn't it? It's the assumption that Questions Are Being Asked is a force in politics in itself, and that only works when parties particularly care about the views of The People Asking the Questions.

Someone told me a while back that every year they offer this to R.L. Stine and every year he politely declines so they can give it to someone who maybe needs it more than he does. If true, it really speaks to his humility as a writer and kindness as a human being. Don't know if it's true though.
