one rule: if a key starts with `sk_`, it never touches frontend code. publishable keys are fine in the browser; secret keys are server-only.

in next.js the prefix tells you — `NEXT_PUBLIC_` ships to the browser, no prefix stays on the server.

a webhook is an http request to a url. anyone who finds the url can send one — including a fake "payment succeeded."

that's why stripe signs every event. you verify the signature before you trust the body. it's one line, and it isn't optional.
