It was confirmed yesterday that the centre left coalition won the election in Sweden

As predicted, with the far right performing poorly, coverage has almost entirely vanished from international media
You may be relieved but spare a thought for so many editors in the mainstream media who were hoping to run hyping headlines about the far right winning in Sweden

As always when SD is hyped and ends up crashing, I expect Swedish politics will drop off the radar as it's no longer sexy enough
Sweden, Novus exit poll:

Seat projection national parliament

S-S&D: 101 (-6)
SD-ECR: 66 (-7)
M-EPP: 62 (-6)
C-RE: 32 (+8)
MP-G/EFA: 25 (+7)
V-LEFT: 24
KD-EPP: 21 (+2)
L-RE: 18 (+2)

As someone in Northern Ireland, it's been sitting uncomfortably the amount of lefties saying Britain has never gone fascist before when most of you have no clue what they did here.

Give it different names if you want.

The fact that this is imaginary is perfect. The whole premise is based on a fantasy that the optimal form of public education is the midpoint of a polarized society. Just split the difference between the science of climate change and the lobby of denialism.

There are loads of conspiracy posts about how the Ellisons hired Bari to wreck this network but that makes no sense. They hired her because she convinced them that there is a large, underserved market for their opinions
Bari Weiss has plunged CBS News into ratings calamity.

—"Evening News" has posted worst ratings of 21st century

—"CBS Mornings" has posted worst ratings of 21st century

Unlike Macklemore, these support acts don’t have big followings and they are giving up their chance to perform to stadiums to push back against censorship, not of themselves but of a fellow artist. Respect.
The Irish musicians, Beoga, who play alongside Ed Sheeran, have withdrawn from Sheeran’s tour.

This is the statement they published on Instagram:

If you observe their behavior over time you'll soon realize that Robert Kraft and the rest of the US Israel lobby do not much care about antisemitism as such
I asked AT&T Stadium about the Rolling Stone report about how they objected to Macklemore coming to Arlington next month. They didn't comment, but as I've noted they're still hosting Kanye West in November: www.chron.com/culture/arti...

This statement from Rowling's team is so funny because it's clear that they're fuming that they can't shut Lilly up with threats of a lawsuit the way she does with everyone in the UK.
Eye-wateringly stupid defence from Rowling’s team here - ‘She does not support legal actions aimed at harming transgender people.’ - Really? So that £70,000 towards the bathroom ban was by accident? The JKR Women’s Fund was made by an impersonator? At least have the spine to admit you want us dead

I was not in the U.S. during this time. From the outside the shared bond seemed indistinguishable from bloodlust in pretty short order but always happy to be corrected
But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.

Vance appears to walk back Trump’s offer of $5,000 ‘dividend’ if Republicans win midterms – US politics live
Vice-president suggests payment would not go to all and would be paid for by tariff revenues despite supreme court rulings against much of Trump’s program * US citizens will receive $5,000 if Republicans win midterms, Trump claims * Sign up for the US Breaking News email Hello and welcome to the US politics live blog. Vice-president JD Vance appeared to partially row back on Donald Trump’s outlandish claims that every adult citizen in the US would receive $5,000 if the Republicans retain the House and Senate in the midterm elections. In a nearly two-hour speech, Donald Trump capped off his first night remarks at the GOP midterm convention by pleading with Republicans to “pretend that I’m running”. The president centered himself in the battle to control Congress, and acknowledged that candidates are more successful when he is on the ballot. He offered an ominous outlook if Republicans fail to retain power. Throughout his remarks, Trump also tried to campaign on behalf of Republicans in competitive midterm races. While he made fun of Ken Paxton’s clothing choices and the way he speaks, he praised the Republican nominee for US Senate in Texas as “the single greatest attorney general” in the state’s history, while also branding his opponent James Talarico as a “disaster”. Earlier, Democratic senator John Fetterman made a surprise virtual appearance at the Republican midterm convention, delivering a video address supporting Dave McCormick, a Republican senator in Pennsylvania. Fetterman, who has increasingly broken with his party since his election in 2022, said in the video that he would always reject “extremes and socialism”, repeating an oft-used Republican critique of the Democratic party’s increasingly popular left wing. Meanwhile, several Republicans who are facing tough races have chosen not to attend the convention in Dallas. This include Susan Collins, the five-term incumbent senator from Maine, and Dan Sullivan – the Republican senator from Alaska who is facing a tough contest against former Democratic congresswoman Mary Peltola.
