In all the mess, there is a euphoria to remembering that I was born in & live in a city that has my family's back.

My parents were undocumented teenagers when they came to LA from Mexico. My mom had me at 17 in a hospital-turned-parking-lot in the San Fernando Valley.

I love you, Los Angeles.

A real problem with concerns about oil prices spiking even more than they already have is that people cannot do anymore to mitigate increased costs. There's already been mass layoffs, SNAP cuts, plus higher energy and food prices. The unnecessary US-Canada trade war. People are exhausted.

This isn’t a pendulum swing. They’re working to systematically obliterate us - through deportations, curricula, the works.
“New students enrolling at the University of Texas at Austin can no longer major in studies focusing on Africans and the African diaspora, Mexican Americans and Latinos, or women and gender.”

Puts a lot of “regain trust” rhetoric into proper relief.
Majors related to race, gender cut at University of Texas
The University of Texas at Austin rejected a department’s plan to keep the majors, a decision that came without public knowledge, an interim department chair told faculty.

It really is worth remembering just last year the conventional wisdom on immigration was that people supported mass deportation to such a degree people should be cautious in opposing the Trump administration snatching people and sending them to CECOT.

Helicopters are expensive, disrupt our lives with pollution (both air & noise), and there is no up-to-date & reliable study showing that they make us safer.

They are a scourge on our communities & budgets, but they’re used like toys by police.
Federal agents and the National Guard – assisted by a U.S. Park Police helicopter – flooded into Park View this morning, scaring parents of kids at Bruce-Monroe Elementary School. Federal officials say it's to help fight crime; critics say it's overkill: www.washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-fed...

We need to pump this majority UP:

Talk to your friends & family & everybody else about why we need to get billionaires to pay more for to fund the communities that have allowed them to enrich themselves.
A slim majority of likely California voters are backing a proposed tax on billionaires, according to a new poll.

As a teen, S faced a felony charge over a vape pen. 5 years later, that charge—& the routine dehumanization of navigating the criminal legal system—would trap S in her anti-abortion state & force her to give birth. For some groups, abortion travel bans are already here—we just don’t call them that:

A sales pitch made for an increasingly chaotic climate:

“It doesn’t really get any flooding at all,” he said. “You’re kind of in the safe zone.”

The safe zone, it seemed, was whichever property I happened to be standing in.
A few weekends ago I went to Miami and attended 9 open houses in extremely high-risk flood areas to see what agents are telling prospective buyers about them.

Here is my journey
