Turbopump? Sounds like a really bad early 90s glam metal band.

No wonder they're having problems with Ariane 6 if they're trying to instal that 🤷🏻

The world's leading AI firms say the technology is careening out of control and could cause a global catastrophe. A sundowning octogenarian president who uses AI to post images of himself looking like Rambo says this is a Chinese hoax. For busy technologists, it can be hard to know who to trust.

Yesterday, the larger of my cats decided it would be a good idea to basically bully me by meowing loudly and biting my arm, hand, elbow and nose until I relented and gave her some treats. After that she decided to ignore me and sleep for the rest of the day. Seriously, cats are absolute bastards 😂

I have a shitload of work to do today including some catchup work missed from this week but I have a headache and a sore throat. 😭

So it'll only be some light reading and rage scrolling on Bluesky today 😂

I'm a professional book reviewer who gets a ton of PR emails from publicists. Do you know where I first hear about 80% of the books I end up reviewing? From authors and readers on bsky.
I am not first and will be far from the last to say this:

I have purchased so many books because I saw them recommended or publicized here on bsky. I cannot urge you all enough to KEEP TALKING ABOUT BOOKS.

I know it's easier to talk up someone else's book, but this also means you, the shy author.
I have mentioned it before, so maybe, but I know others liked it too. Hooray for word of "mouth" (or post) for getting it seen.

There's rather a lot of people that care about fairness in sports and are not rabid right-wingers laser focused on the Trans issue. We do actually care aboutseeing equal competition in some form. There's a ton of books and articles written on the subject.
"don't you care about fairness in sports?" No actually, I don't. Nobody does

We can conclude that yes, it did have to be this way, because there’s very little standing between the nastiest right wing warmongers, authoritarians and crooks except a bunch of libs who agree with about 75% of their ideas, are terrified of looking like commies and rarely do anything to impede them

Given aocialdemokraterna voted for recent rules to impose the vague and fascist “vandel” law for “inappropriate behaviour” I wouldn’t if I were you. Vote Green or V if you don’t want to be stabbed in the back by supposedly left politicians who will use you to gain power and then fuck you over
Jag är muslim, svensk medborgare och ska rösta på socialdemokraterna. Jimmie Åkesson ser mig och min röst som ett hot mot Sverige. Denne icke-demokrat vill Ulf Kristersson ha i sin regering. Det är skrämmande.

Ive been thinking the same thing, and kind of hesitant to say it out loud because we're already a group considered to be luddites and technophobes, when its really our sense that students absolutely must train their own minds to read primary sources, and think/write with primary+secondary sources.
I’ve had this convo privately enough times in the last week to go public:

I don’t think there is any valuable way to use AI in a history classroom.
