This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

100% This world of nation-states is utterly and structurally incapable of responding to climate emergencies. Instead, it maintains the enormous inequities between rich and poor (within and across nation-states) and, in so doing, it fuels climate disasters, literally.

We need another system
This planet will live for millions and millions, billions more years.

What we're collectively doing is threatening our time on it.

What caused Nepal flood? Scientist says it was enormous landslide, glacier fall

What I wish for everybody to remember when Canvas comes back online:

The reason OUR data can be held for ransom is because Instructure, their owners (KKR private equity & Dragoneer venture capital), & our own employers (see ASU Atomic) monetize it.

It's Canvas that hacked education & stole our IP.

This doesn't have to keep happening. It is possible to craft worlds where women and children are safe, rather than objects to be either dominated or protected from the domination of others.

It is possible to create a world where people can just be safe in their bodies.
The Cesar Chavez story discussed yesterday is out, in the New York Times. Two women say that he sexually assaulted them as children, beginning when they were 12 and 13. And Dolores Huerta says he raped her in 1966.

Also, isn't *every* Pixar movie basically therapy?
The full WSJ article getting passed around is bewildering. They cut gay elements from Elio because "We're making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy," and it lost $100 million.

Inside Out 2, which is a movie about a teen girl's feelings, was their biggest hit at $1.7 billion.
