This is something I now hear regularly from almost all my trans friends. The tension between wanting to stay but not feeling safe. The tension between fleeing or fighting. The “what if where I go becomes just as bad?” It’s utterly shameful that law-abiding people feel they’re being forced out.

The social media ban doesn’t have to stop every under 16 from using social media - if it stops most of them using it, and causes those who still do to use it less, that's a big win.

Disagree with lots of this, including the central argument, but it's very thoughtful. The best single idea in it is this: "Any platform that uses an algorithm more complex than ‘people you follow in chronological order’ to be treated as a publisher, and held to account for content."
