The coupling constant between adjacent waveguides is J, and the loss rate of the n-th waveguide is 𝛾𝑛, where 𝛾𝑛=0 for 𝑛>𝑁 and 𝑁≪𝐿. (b) Excitation geometry corresponding to the CPA condition at the Bloch wave number 𝑞=𝜋/2. The array is illuminated by a plane wave incident at the Bragg angle 𝜃=𝜆/(2𝑎), where a is the lattice period (waveguide spacing) and 𝜆 is the optical wavelength. As shown in the inset, this excitation corresponds to a uniform intensity profile combined with a linear phase gradient, featuring a 𝜋/2 phase shift between adjacent waveguides.
