“Can you not just talk to your children about their interests? Play them some music? Expose them to something?” 💀
@cwarzel.bsky.social tells @timmiller.bsky.social why the tech oligarchs’ grand vision for the future feels so profoundly anti-human: "They don't seem to be able to articulate a brilliant vision of what the future looks like, because I think their imaginations are really, really small."

It's very instructive to see how identitarian arguments are being deployed to DENY free school meals to kids. All over a piddling $3 million. They increased the SPD budget by $35M last year! Harrell added $150M in new spending in his last 2 years!

I would also hate early sunsets, though, if we stayed in standard time. I honestly don’t care as long as it just. stops. changing.
People are gonna fucking hate this if it actually happens. Enjoy all these post 8am sunrises

Mainstream Respectable opinion is that people joking about a bad person's death represents a culture of cruelty, but really it represents a culture of impunity. It's a coping mechanism for watching someone do evil their whole life and never seeing consequences

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave.

The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

Prosecutors connected him to a 2025 anti-ICE protest he didn't even attend because he was in the same book club as others who were.

hey, this is a fairly nerdy news item, but you should absolutely know about it. (looks like there are links in other posts in the thread.)

the Post Office is really contemplating not delivering ballots unless states expose their voters' data to DOJ. I hate saying read that again but, read it again
The USPS’s proposed rule—which among other things will force it to *refuse to deliver ballots* for states that don’t fork over their voter rolls to the White House—drew opposition from congressional Democrats, the NAACP, and its own union.
