This strategy is never framed as a sacrifice, but that's exactly what it is and should be framed as. A politician is making a decision to sacrifice certain people in a bid to win. That being the case, it's asinine and ghoulish to expect those on the altar to take it with good grace
It's not hard to understand why appeals to the "center" (which just means the right wing) come at the cost of votes on the left. This seems baffling to many of the "political strategy" minds on here whose apparent plan is to have their cake and eat it

They apparently took all of the wrong lessons from the wildly successful gay rights movement, choosing to be as alienating as possible. I won't be surprised if it ends up like abortion and 20 years from now public opinion is effectively frozen on the issue somewhere around 50/50.

The problem with the average 5E player is that they're playing a game that asks you to manage resources and get upset when you point out the game involves managing resources.
