As a brown migrant living in the UK legally, this is precisely why there can be *no* compromise on the fundamental right of seeking asylum. Pretty quickly it’s anyone who ‘looks’ like an asylum seeker - ie brown or black - who is targeted. No one is safe from this.
If a lEgiTiMaTe dEbATe aBOut iMMigRaTioN leads to people turning up with pitchforks to demand credentials from every group of young non-white men arriving in town, you’d think even Labour MPs would start asking themselves if it’s really a legitimate debate
