Arianism led to like a 60 year fight
Every line in the Nicene Creed represents a (sometimes literal) fight to the death among various Christian sects, many of whom believed in stuff much theologically wilder than the Oprah Winfrey system of planetary distribution.
In my view, Catholicism is just as "weird" as the LDS Church but has gotten grandfathered in in a lot of ways in how we think about it culturally. Partly because its old and a lot of the doctrinal stuff got hashed out a thousand years ago.
