🚨@abcnewsbot.bsky.social holds No1🚨with 11.74m readers. Newscomau drops back to 11.1m

@australia.theguardian.com holds 7th with 6.3m readers, SMH 6th on 6.99m. Some BIG audience drops in Oct🧵

This is the first time in history* (in both current Ipsos & former Nielsen) that GdnAus has held a ranking of higher than 6th for 3 consecutive months.

*I'm 99.9% certain on that. I've gone back through to check and can't find any instances

Forbes drops -1m readers and 5 places to 15th, while Screenrant (?!) makes its first ever Top20 appearance. The Australian rises five spots to 12th.

The only change in rankings in the Top10 is 7News and GdnAus swapping for 4th and 6th. After the huge news month that was March, it's not surprising that all but four of the Top20 lost audience month-on-month.

7News added a remarkable 1m readers in July to go to 8.5m readers. Worth noting that, after losing -576k readers in May and another -565k readers in June, this was essentially a return to where they'd been in April.

This is the first time in history that Guardian Australia has been ranked 4th or higher two months in a row 👏 and it extends our record (PB) run to seven consecutive months where GdnAus has been ranked 5th or higher.

In May just one of the Top10 news websites experienced an audience swing of more than 5%, and that was Yahoo News with +12%, which helped them leapfrog SBS to take the No7 spot

Half of the Top10 publishers were down in June, but GdnAus, 7News and SBS were up.

GdnAus added +170k #audience on May, but 7News' +383k audience was enough to take them to No4 and knock GdnAus off our smug No4 perch for the first time in 6mths.
