BrainSaw images whole brains. We acquire most of our data from 4 µm/pixel for (e.g. for brain-wide projection mapping), down to 1.2 µm/pixel to visualise single axons.

Ran SquchWatch-CYD in the ride to my Ma's house. Mostly it found iBeacons but it also spotted an Airtag and a few other items of low/medium sinister nature. No Flocks or Axons.

iBeacon detection is off by default. This is because there are a lot of those things.

Researchers labeled dopamine axons from the substantia nigra and reconstructed three striatal cell types in 3D. They counted sites where axons closely approached cell bodies or dendrites in dorsomedial and dorsolateral regions.
October 3, 2026 at 12:15 PM
Dopamine axons did not approach all striatal targets alike. In male mice, candidate contacts varied by region and cell type, clustering around cholinergic cell bodies medially.

We literally do, we have identified neurotransmitters, receptora and NCAMs that are responsible for synapse formation and activation. We know how neurons depolarise their membranes to propagate signals along axons, and repolarise again. A quick google search for action potential would help.

The axons in Trump's brain can no longer fire across the spaces created by 'shrinking brain syndrome.' It happens to old people. Active, intelligent old people's brains find new pathways to extend themselves. Dull, stupid old people expect the world to accommodate them.

Zebrafish study reveals oligodendrocytes use Gephyrin to myelinate GABAergic axons, regulating myelin sheath growth. Key insights into neuron circuit tuning! PMID:42373637, Nat Commun 2026, @NatureComms https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-026-74902-3 #Medsky #Pharmsky #RNA #ASHG #ESHG 🧪
Zebrafish oligodendrocyte lineage cells use the postsynaptic protein Gephyrin to myelinate GABAergic axons and limit myelin sheath growth | Nature Communications
Axon myelination can tune neuronal circuits through placement and modulation of different patterns of myelin sheaths on distinct types of axons. How myelin formation is coordinated on distinct axon classes remains largely unknown. Recent work indicates neuronal activity and vesicle release promote myelin formation, and myelin-producing oligodendrocytes express canonical postsynaptic factors that potentially facilitate oligodendrocyte-axon interaction for myelin ensheathment. Here, we examined whether the inhibitory postsynaptic scaffold protein Gephyrin (Gphn) mediates selective myelination of specific axon classes in the larval zebrafish. Consistent with this possibility, Gphn was enriched in myelin on GABAergic and glycinergic axons. In gphnb deficient larval oligodendrocytes, myelin sheaths were longer and the frequency of myelin placement on GABAergic axons was reduced. Collectively, our results indicate that oligodendrocyte lineage cells use Gphn to promote myelin formation on GAB
