#ETransit
And as gas prices stay high and EVs (especially used) get cheaper, more and more drivers are going electric, or ditching cars altogether in favor of ebikes

(In the first photo, both cars are actually electric!)

I’m often curious about what an eTransit would look like doing something like this.

The ID buzz is an EV but buyers have deemed it too expensive. The Chrysler Pacifica had a very impressive EREV and the market rejected it. BrightDrop and eTransit were well-priced commercial EVs rejected by industry. Hard to place blame on the OEMs when customers turn their nose up at them.

I just got an eTransit for my business and it gets about 120 miles off of a charge.
Fine for me making a few deliveries from the farm into the city.

Hyundai is playing longball, pretty much every other OEM is playing close to the mound. BMW tried for a second with the i brand, then chickened out. Ford tried for a second with the Lightning and eTransit then chickened out. Honda just straight-up chickened out.

Also, might I say, I really enjoy how NYT chose the Mach-E to crush into a cube, even though it outsells the ICE-powered coupe and Ford has made no mention of cancelling it despite cancelling the Lightning, eTransit, and its written-off three row crossover.

In your situation, Balcony Solar would be ideal.

As for EV vans, there's several (eg: Forizon Supervan, Ford eTransit, Kia PV5)
zecar.com/lists/electr...
Moves afoot to bring balcony solar to Australia, and new wave of products has batteries included
Unlike many countries, Australia does not allow balcony solar, which now even come with their own batteries. But that may change.

Under Farley Ford killed the Lightning and Escape Hybrid bringing their lineup as a manufacturer to 2 EVs (Mach-e, eTransit) and 3 HEVs (Maverick, Nautilus, Corsair).

Mach-e, their top selling EV, is not made in the U.S.
Nautilus, Lincoln's top seller, is made in China...

I think someone will do this before I have a chance to (because of kid/adulthood timing) but kitting out like an etransit van for overlanding and doing a yt video series while Spreadsheet Guy-ing (gender neutral) over it would be pretty great

Hola, no no es plataforma MEB y lo fabrican en Rumanía junto con la eTransit y eTourneo

The loss of the Lightning is a travesty. My clients love it. There’s actually still a meaningful regulated market that’s desperate for good MHD product and the Lightning checks all the near-term boxes. We also needed a passenger-style eTransit.

Was thinking of going full electric. This used etransit was under 20k. Much more difficult to do RV conversion on these as there are so few areas on the base you can drill through as the battery is in the way. Better to remove battery first. But also this one is short range. Max 150miles or so.

🤔 Maybe I should get a used etransit?
March 28, 2026 at 11:33 PM
ford lightning, chevy silverado

ford also has etransit and Chevy has a panel van

Chevy had a 100k mile no questions asked battery replacement policy on the volt, expect other offerings are similar

I managed to get dragged on Threads!
I hired an eTransit van for the weekend. Drove up to London, near my destination a meagre 5kwh lamppost, but it was free, so I plugged in the cable under the passenger seat and left it overnight - with misgivings. Still there (and the cable) the next morning.

Also, initial plan was to bypass dealers and sell directly into fleets. When fleets proved EV reluctant, the vehicles became Chevrolet Bright Drops, but the damage was done. Also, the official list prices were very high relative to the eTransit.

probably this century! keep on holding on while we keep tweaking the MME and ignoring the eTransit!
January 21, 2026 at 1:44 AM
so we're absolutely expecting if anything launches on this platform at all it'll be 50k minimum and there'll be no discernable reason to get one instead of even an MME or etransit.
January 15, 2026 at 11:24 PM
a plumber who came to my house once had one and he said he's getting rid of etransit since with all his tools, the extra weight was killing his range. This would def be better
