RAPID is an ImageJ macro script developed for the quick determination of sample orientation and indexing of calibrated and uncalibrated zone axis aligned electron diffraction patterns from materials with a cubic crystal structure.

With an increasing number of refined MicroED structures available to the community, lessons can be learned of their profiles and quality, as well as of best practices.

This work demonstrates that multi-position data acquisition mitigates radiation damage in electron diffraction of three-dimensional protein crystals and that merging data from selected crystals in distinct orientations enhances completeness. Application of the two approaches enables high-quality structural models to be obtained from limited or sensitive samples.

With the currently avalaible 3D ED data it is possible to observe details of electrostatic potential deformations due to chemical bonding in organic crystals. The deformation signal is strong enough to see the benefits of using a more accurate potential model (TAAM) in achieving a better fit of the model to the experimental data.

We present a MATLAB-based framework implementing golden-ratio shift orientation sampling for continuous precession rotation electron diffraction tomography, achieving convergence within 512 Bloch wave calculations per frame, which is a tenfold reduction compared with conventional protocols. We also describe numerical tests for dynamical intensities calculated using the Bloch wave method for different three-dimensional electron diffraction methods.

This article describes a new phase identification algorithm called poly intended for spotty selected-area electron diffraction patterns collected from polymorphic nanomaterials. We have developed this new approach to determine the predominant high-pressure phases produced in laser-shock-affected regions of silicon. Applying this algorithm allowed us to reliably identify two new t32-Si and t32*-Si phases and indicate their relaxation time in other metastable high-pressure silicon phases.
