The news is not good. The baby has been diagnosed with the rare VLCADD disorder, meaning his body doesn't process certain long chain fatty acids (like omega 3) into energy. The good news is, there is some residual enzymeactivity 10% so it's not completely malfunctioning ++
Okay, freaking out again. All was well, baby out the incubator eating by itself. Yesterday evening, a positive on the heel prick screening. Today rushed to Maastricht UMC+ Center of Expertise for Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders for further testing. Really praying for it to be a false positive

Both mum and son are on the mend. The very very very little one (born at 34 weeks 1850 grams) got rid of the breathing mask last Wednesday and now only has a nasal probe for the extra nutrition. So 👍
