#Ethicists
it’s cool how almost all the worst nightmares of technology ethicists and ethicists in general are coming true right now
[fingerkisses] Perfect. As was foretold in my prophecy. Still waiting for the poison control nightmare.

If only there were military ethicists who might have warned about this....🤔
Now lethality means "6'2" chiseled white guy," it has nothing to do with proficiency at military tasks and drills. If you don't look like CBum, you need not apply.

I'd also note that being able to bench 405+ won't protect you from a projectile moving at 2700 ft/sec, no matter who is firing

One for my ethicists.
Hegseth at NATO summit: "We can talk all we want about values. Values are important. But you can't shoot values."

there are digital ethicists who understand how the tech works! At least [checks notes] 3 of them

Immanuel Kant is responsible for the Ukraine war and "global chaos" in general, says Kaliningrad Governor.

More detail here via Google Translate but no, it doesn't really help it make any more sense: fedpress.ru/news/39/soci...

you do realize there are SCORES of books written by neurologists and philosophers and medical ethicists on this topic, yeah?

like i'm begging you people for one time in your life to crack open a book and READ

just an infinite fountain of text which gives ethicists brain damage

With ethicists like these…

No ethicists. Wonder how much a seat at the table costed.

Neuroscientists have made a major advance in modeling the human brain in mice, offering a new way to study conditions like cerebral palsy. Ethicists ask if it changes how these mice should be treated. n.pr/4Al6LSA
Mice with human brain cells offer a tool to study disease. Ethicists ask: What's next?

FUN FACT PROFESSIONAL ETHICISTS ARE NOT NOTICEABLY MORE ETHICAL THAN OTHER PROFESSORS

This is cultural suicide and intellectual vandalism. In an era where humanities-illiterate tech bros have unearned god-like powers, we need historians, philosophers, ethicists, classicists more than ever.

we are all Aristotelians/virtue ethicists now
and the usually lib-coded advice here says "and then women will like you because you're a more fully realized person" but I think that's kinda missing the point. these things are good as ends, not means. it is good to be competent because competence *feels good*.

*virtue ethicists enter the chat*
The thing that's so difficult in fighting pseudoscience is that its followers fundamentally don't believe in expertise.

Exceptional people? Sure. The naturally gifted? of course.

But I've talked to people face-to-face who simply don't believe people can get better at things.

Ethicists say Seinfeld characters might be sentient and capable of feeling pain. When Elaine is told “no soup for you” she looks genuinely distressed about being banned from the soup shop for one year

Same! This case even came up at an ethics conference I was at recently and 90% of ethicists in the room thought it was up to the teenager

I resigned from Google DeepMind bc it broke its founding promise by selling AI to the military without restrictions against killer robots or mass spying.

For months, I worked to stop this but watched powerful ethicists and institutions choose silence.

Here's what happened. 🧵

You didn't get rich by hiring ethicists

FTC's latest move is to see how many trans kids they can kill. This is dangerous and beyond stupid, and way beyond anything the FTC is supposed to have authority over.

For real though. Ethicists and people with common sense know that if you make it legal to sell organs, you will turn human beings into prey for greedy sociopaths.

*finally* ethicists are starting to discuss the real problems I face in my life!
January 15, 2026 at 8:22 AM
Media ethicists don't struggle to see where things went wrong. Flacks on panels. Guests allowed to lie with impunity, then invited back. Too much anonymous sourcing. Anecdotes replacing data. Fearing the government. Avoiding hard truths in favor of bothsidesism. Proft over news.

Also, there are lots of anti-abortion ethicists in philosophy departments, which is where they should be. (Along with pro-choice ethicists, of course.)
