CAL FIRE unit forester David Haas and the fire chief described a multiagency plan to treat about 160 acres in Wildwood State Park (approximately 100 acres for prescribed fire and 60 acres for mechanical/manual treatments); staff expect manual treatments to begin mid‑late October and prescribed fires to start in spring 2027.

You know what can mitigate wildfires and droughts and floods? Beavers. They purify even the toxins we put into the watersheds and create habitat that all beings rely upon. Including us, human beings. We are all beings. The code of the water way is greater than greed.

Oh no, but I can totally see how that could happen, the ports look very similar. I accidentally drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil doing an oil change for the 1st time on my Forester, which I later found was quite common when I looked up why my oil was red 😹

One of the great things about Forester - and it is true across all of his writing - is he is at his best writing characters who are unpleasant persons who have to overcome their inherent unpleaseant nature. Hornblower is a crucial example.

Anyway, it was great and I'm moving on to the previous book straight away. I also found a third book recently. I love these old covers.
I can see similarities to Kirk's ingenuity, but Hornblower is a far drier character. In fact in 'Hotspur' I'd say he was aloof and entirely humourless.
