I have a queen German wasp removing wood from my garage door. It happens every year without fail.

I was searching the wildlife garden today for something to photograph when I noticed a distinctive-looking Scarce Fungus #Weevil on an old log. A new ✔️ for the garden.

It's #Twosday, so here's a pair of mating Holly Blues from back in May. Normally, I'm unable to approach these #butterflies. I suppose they were thinking about other things.

In my garden, there's a nursery web spider hiding among the lobelia leaves. Her young are situated on top of the plant in a web that resembles a tent.

A female hairy-footed flower bee feeding on pulmonaria. A difficult bee to photograph because it zips from flower to flower.

A nice spot in the garden yesterday—a Flavous Nomad Bee. It doesn't look like a solitary bee, but that's what it is.

Dark-edged bee-flies appear to be abundant in the garden this year. I'm not sure if I am seeing a lot of them or just one.

Last night, I noticed a walnut orb-weaver spider on the wall close to my front door. Even though I enjoy taking pictures of them, I'm not a fan of #spiders.

Even though I'm not a big fan of #spiders, I'm sure to run into some when searching my garden for moths with a torch. The garden gate is home to this female walnut orb-weaver spider. It spends the day hidden in a crevice and comes out at night.

Near my home's front door, I noticed a non-native Noble False Widow spider, which is reputed to be the most venomous spider in Britain.

I'll make a mental note to never, ever tell my wife about it!

In the garden today, I saw this Chocolate Mining Bee flying back and forth to a hole in the ground. Fortunately, it was too preoccupied to care that I was sticking a camera lens in its face.

To be fair, this one was in the house, but it's a beauty. Magpie moth (Abraxas grossulariata).

Earlier, I noticed a dark-edged bee-fly in the garden. It flew up close to me as I was about to take a picture of a peacock butterfly. I think I disturbed it while it was enjoying the sun. I was happy to get a shot of the bee-fly, but I missed out on the butterfly.
