We holidayed at Glengorm castle twice in the late 60's/early 70's. Mum, Dad and 5 kids in the back of the Landrover for a very long road journey to the ferry from Oban to Tobermory. Fabulous and stunning castle. One of my happy holiday memories.

It started off from here, a noodly ink drawing with a Tom's Studio Lumos pen. Really recommended if you like drawing with fineliners. It's of Glengorm Castle on Mull which was once the best BnB in the world (though I think they still do self-catering).

Black and White. A lone figure trudges up a dirt track towards the castle which is silhouetted against the horizon. The sky is filled with strips wispy clouds that seem to emanate from a single point over the horizon. Overall the atmosphere is ominous and foreboding. When I took this I hadn't checked the settings on the camera and the original was unsatisfactory to say the least, however I loved the feel of the image, converting it to mono and adjusting the light and contrast produced this.

The stones are in the centre, around them the pasture extends to the edge of the see along with a couple of small stands of conifer trees. In the distance the waters of the Atlantic can be seen with Coll and Tiree on the horizon.

This started as an image I really liked, but had managed to f%&k up by accidentally setting minimum aperture (the lens is really soft at that aperture)... a little fiddling with light levels and a slight vignette has produced this... what do you think ?
