Having said that, Sega's merger of classic animation with consumer technology has not always worked out for them. Witness Clockwork Knight, which attempts an awkward merger of turn of the century toys with cutting-edge CGI. Victorian-era Toy Story just seems hokey and quaint next to Sonic.

it's gorgeous and haunting and makes me sick to my stomach and i keep it in my heart. and yeah it is kind of hokey in parts, so what. Rachel Cooper's pure blinding goodness is unbelievable but as a kid, i dreamed of an adult that good. i love this movie and everyone should see it

i showed my girlfriend The Night of the Hunter, hoping she would like it. the last time i showed it to people they thought it was too hokey, i was so upset. we both turned to each other at the end in tears and it's the first time i was happy to see my gf cry lmao. we both agree it's a masterpiece :)

They can be a bit hokey and a bit pompous on occasion and god knows the last one could've done with half a dozen fewer endings but show me a trilogy that offers the same amount of spectacle and fun and admirable absence of Tom Bombadil. A gargantuan undertaking that almost always lands. Fantastic.
